Ultimate Frisbee Rules
Number of Players:
Ultimate Frisbee rules is played best with 10 players, but you can play with 6 players or more. This game is played outdoors, playing on a soccer field is the most ideal place to play.
How to play:
For this game use an Ultimate frisbee if possible, they fly better and farther. To score points, a team must throw a frisbee to someone in the end zone.
At the beginning of a game and after a team scores a point, both teams line up at the front of their end zone. The defenses then throws the Frisbee the offense.
The receiving team can let the Frisbee land and then pick it up, or they can catch it and start passing it downfield.
The offense can move the ultimate frisbee in any direction on the field (even backwards) by completing a pass to a teammate. Players may not run with the disc. If the catch the Frisbee running, they should stop as soon as possible.
Basic Ultimate Frisbee Rules:
The player with the disc has up to ten seconds to throw it. The defender guarding the Thrower can count out loud to ten if he/she likes. The defense gets the disc if the opposing Thrower doesn’t throw in ten seconds.
The defender may try to block throws, but cannot touch the Thrower of the Frisbee as long as it’s in the hand of the Thrower. Only one person may guard the the Thrower at a time.
The Thrower can use a swivel or pivot foot, just like in basketball. If a pass is dropped, not completed, if the Frisbee goes out of bounds, is blocked or intercepted the defense takes the Frisbee and goes on offense.
For Ultimate Frisbee rules: No negative physical contact is allowed between players, no Picks and screens are not allowed. If you want to give somebody a high five thats fine. In
Ultimate Frisbee rules: A foul occurs when contact is made. If a foul changes the possession of the Frisbee, then a foul is called and the Frisbee goes back to the other team.
Each time the offense completes a pass into the defense’s end zone, the offense scores a point. They then go to their end zone and pass it to the other team.
Ultimate Frisbee is played to ten points, the team that achieves this wins, after a team wins everyone lines up and then whoever is the captain determines the teams by numbering every other person a one or a two.
Ultimate Frisbee History:
The first Frisbee was invented in 1948 in California, 20 years later Ultimate Frisbee was started in the 1968 by Joel Silver at Columbia High School in maplewood, NJ. The early rules allowed running with the frisbee, teams of 20 to 30 people, a referee, and a series of downs.
Ultimate has since increased in popularity and is now played in 42 countries. The early version of this game was called Frisbee Football, but the game is now called Ultimate, while Ultimate Frisbee actually refers to the Frisbees that are used for this game.
