Early in his life, Phil Laak poker and his family moved to the United States.
He is known as "The Unabomber" for his unique appearances at the televised World Poker Tour shows based on the sweatshirt he wears which he got from poker professional Gus Hansen. Phil is extremely adventures, he likes motorcycling, scuba diving, skydiving, and judo.
His family enjoyed playing Tripoli for pennies and Phil Laak says even then he observed a "card logic" which he eventually used in his poker career. Phil became familiar with high stakes poker at a club in New York City in 1999. Not long after, Phil began entering tournaments and succeeding at them. The competition and patience needed for varying strategies appealed to him.
In February 2004, Phil won the World Poker Tour Invitational, this was his first win. Phil has two other major WPT appearances at the final table.
In 2005, Phil Laak poker finished second behind Johnny Chan in the World Series of Poker $2,500 Pot Limit Hold’em event. He defeated Ram "Crazy Horse" Vaswani in the William Hill Poker Grand Prix, this earned him a total of £150,000 for claiming the first place.
