Pennies From Heaven
Number of Players:
Pennies from Heaven card game requires four, in partnerships, can be played with six. Pairs face each other.
Objective:
To build canastas and score 20,000 points or more.
The Cards:
For Pennies From Heaven card game use a four standard 52 card decks are mixed together include the eight jokers, to total 216 cards. Use decks that look the same on the back.
Dealing Instructions:
The dealer, who drew the high card, deal 13 cards to each player. Make a reserve pile of 11 cards, which are placed face down in front each player.
How To Play:
Player to the dealer’s left starts. You may pick up and add the reserve cards to your hand after you make your first canasta. Every turn, draw two cards and discard one. In
Pennies From Heaven you can’t discard a 7 until you or your partner has made a natural or mixed canasta of 7’s. You may not go out with a 7 as a discard. A wild card on top of the pack freezes it. In Pennies From Heaven in order to unfreeze, follow the rules of the standard game.
Pennies From Heaven Melding Rules:
The minimum score to meld follows the same table as standard games except that you need 150 points if your score at the beginning of the deal is 1,500 or more. A canasta has only seven cards; cards can’t be added to it. Wild-card canastas can be made. Otherwise follow the rules of the standard game. To go out, you have to have made one 7’s canasta, one wild canasta, one natural canasta, and one mixed canasta.
Pennies from Heaven Scoring:
A canasta of 7’s counts for 1,500 points. A wild-card canasta counts for 1,000 points. Red 3’s count for 100 each, and all 8’s count for 1,000 points. Any red 3’s in a hand are counted against your hand if your side doesn’t make a 7’s canasta. Canasta’s can’t have more than seven cards.
