Italian Canasta
Number of Players:
Italian Canasta requires four players, in partnerships. Pairs face each other.

Canasta variation is 12,000 points.
The Cards:
Three standard 52-card decks are mixed together with six jokers, totaling 162 cards. Remember to use decks that look the same.
Italian Canasta Dealing:
Dealing is the same as with regular
Canasta except that each player receives 15 cards. The up card on the stock isn’t turned until each player has discarded any dealt red 3’s. After the up card is shown, the number of cards equal to the up cards point value are drawn from the stock and placed face down under the up card to create the discard pile. The pack below the up card is perpetually frozen. Next, players in turn from the dealer’s left take the same number of cards from the stock and place it in their hands. Cards are valued at face value except for J=ll, Q=12, K=13; A, 2, or joker=20.

Italian Canasta Melding Requirements:
The initial melding requirement must be met without any wild cards in Italian Canasta.
At the higher scores, the requirements are as follows:

Rules for Playing:
At each turn, draw two cards and discard one. In
Italian Canasta a meld of all two’s is allowed, but two’s can’t be used in other melds unless you can make a deuce canasta. You may not go out on a wild card canasta.
Instructions For Scoring:
Wild card bonuses count only if your side goes out. Other wise wild cards are counted at face value. Opponents having deuce melds score only the point value of the cards. Game is 12,000.
