Four Jacks (Palignac)
Four Jacks is sometimes called Palignac, or Quatre Valets.
Numbers of Players:
This game is played with 4 to 6 players.
The Cards:
The goal is to avoid taking jacks. For 4 players, 32 cards are required, discard the 2s to 6s. For 5 to 6 players, 30 cards are required, discard the 2s to 6s and also the two black 7s.
Equipment A handful of poker chips, toothpicks, dried beans, etc. Distribute the same number to each player.
How to Play:
Four Jacks (Palignac) play starts at the dealers left, players must follow suit when possible, the winner of each trick leads to the next. The hands are played out in tricks. There is no trump suit. Each trick is won by the highest card played of the suit led.

J, known as "Palignac," counts 2 points for the player taking it; other jacks, 1 point each.
Special Rules:
In Four Jacks (Palignac) one player may announce, "Capot" before play starts, this means that this player plans to take every trick. If he/she does, 5 points are added to each of the other players scores; if he/she fails, scoring is the same as a regular hand.
